THE KEEPER now on KINDLE

The two books that we are launching at Sandown in November are moving on apace. The Horton Chronicles – The Banned Edition, is finished and we’re just in the throes of the final proofing before it’s off to the printers. We’ve produced 100 hardbacks with a special dustcover, produced by John Grant, and I believe that, as I write this, there are just a couple left.

The cover is a beautiful drawing by John showing Shoulders, The Woodcarving and a couple of misty, mysterious carp feeding near a snag tree. We think it’s so good that we’re going to produce a limited run of 250 prints which we’ll have for sale at Sandown and on the website. I think they will probably retail at £25 - £30, but if you purchase them with a copy of the book we’ll do them at a discounted price, which will probably be £5 cheaper.

We’ve, once again, had a very good response for the book and have had forward orders of more than 250. If you’re one of the forward thinkers, and you’d like one of the prints, then contact either myself or Linda and we’ll do them at the discounted price for you.

Clive Williams’ Sussex Carping book has taken quite a bit of work to put together, especially on Clive’s part, but the finished article will be well worth all of the effort. There are more than 200 lakes and rivers in there, ranging from little ½ acre ponds up to 300 acre reservoirs, all of which are home to carp of differing sizes. We’ll be bringing it out as a soft back, which will retail at £12 each (Lin can’t be bothered will 99p’s), and they will be available either from the website or from most Sussex tackle shops.   There will also be a limited run of hardbacks, not sure how many at the moment but no more than 100, so keep an eye on the website for updates.

Now to future projects and the first of those is the Wraysbury Chronicles. I’m getting more and more excited about this book, as more and more of the chapters come in. There are some great stories, and loads of ‘I didn’t realise that’ moments. I had the absolute privilege and pleasure to sit down with Sir Pete Springate and Lord Kenny Hodder the other day, and what a delight it was.

And the stories!

There’s so much more but you’ll just have to wait until March to get the book, but it will be so worth it. But, as like the 'Banned Edition' of Horton we have now had forward orders in the 100's so i wouldn't wait too long before reserving your copy.

As with The Banned Edition of Horton, we’re producing a small number of limited edition hardbacks, with a cover by John Grant depicting Mary, her Mate and one or two others, all in the shadow of the dredger. Unfortunately, the books have all gone but we will, once again, be producing a limited run of prints so if you want the matching pair of Horton and Wraysbury you’ll be able to complete that set early next year.

Finally, a couple of things I can’t really tell you about yet. Two books that we’re looking to bring out next year that will absolutely stun you.  Sorry to be so cryptic, but keep an eye on the website or sign up to get the news first.

There are also a couple of other projects that we’re looking into that may well come to fruition in the next couple of months, one of them involving Kindle. Blimey, 21st technology and me, there’s an unlikely pairing.

Finally, finally, just to let you know that we raised £2800 for Help for Heroes, so a big Thank You to everyone who made the effort and bid on the prizes, it was a great effort, and won’t be the last time that we ask you to put your hand in your pocket for a great cause.

The Wraysbury Chronicles launch will see a similar auction and fundraising day as The Horton Chronicles, with all of the proceeds going to Stoney and Friends, so keep ‘em peeled for news of that in the New Year.

Finally, finally, finally! A couple of dates where you can see us (if you’re so inclined) and pick up a book or two. We’re at Gone Fishing in Canvey Island on Saturday 24th September, then at The Carp Society Show at Sandown at the end of November, and finally at Carpin’ On at Five Lakes at the beginning of March 2012.

We’ll probably be adding to those dates in the next few months so keep looking at the website.

Also, as from 10th October, The Keeper is now available on Kindle at less than £4.00
See ya next time.
