We are busy birds here at Freebird at the moment with a few books at differing stages of evolution, and launch dates planned from this Christmas to next Christmas.
One of the new books became very evident as a lot of people still desperately wanted a copy - The Horton Chronicles, and with copies of this book now fetching vast amounts on eBay we didn’t want to just do the ‘Second Edition’, so we haven’t…
We now give you The Horton Chronicles – The Banned Edition. There are five extra chapters which have come about on comments we’ve had a few times like ‘Aren’t you and Dave in there?’ and, ‘Where’s Reg, and Chilly?’ Well, the initial thought process was that Dave, Chilly and me had already written about our exploits in various publications and didn’t need to do it again, but then it became more and more clear that people who wanted to buy the Horton Chronicles wouldn’t necessarily have bought either Dave or Chilly’s book. Also, the rarity of Obsession for Carp meant that even if people did want to read about Dave’s exploits, they’d have to pay a hell of a lot of money for the privilege. Then there’s Reg! He was there at the start, on the day ticket year, and before that in helping to net the fish from Longfield – how could we leave him out? The fifth chapter is a list of captures of a dozen selected carp.
We’ll only print a 1000 copies of these and will release it at Sandown in November. We’re also going to produce a hundred only Limited Edition Numbered hardbacks with a very special dust jacket and slip case. The limited editions will be £95 and the book itself will be the same price as before - £30.
So, that’s Horton, what about Wraysbury?
The Wraysbury Chronicles will be launched at Five Lakes 2012 and with the fishy grapevine is already proving to be as popular as The Horton Chronicles, so we’ve put it on our website to’ buy now’ and confirm you get your copy. We’ll keep you updated as we go along but if you haven’t already put your email address below then why not do it now and be first to get the news on this and any forth coming books we are doing. SPECIALS - As the leather editions have all SOLD OUT we’ve decided to produce a limited number of LIMITED EDITION NUMBERED hardbacks with a very special dust jacket and slip case. These limited editions will be £95 and we now only have a few of these remaining. The standard hardback book itself will be the same price as before - £30.
On the subject of Wraysbury, a small plea.
If you have any photos or stories that you think may be worthy of inclusion in the book, please get in contact. I want to put a few little snippets in there, the same as the Horton book, and the more the merrier. If you think you’ve got something that the angling world needs to know about Wraysbury, then call me or e-mail and we’ll have a chat.
And finally, for the moment anyway, the auction for the Crohn’s Charity raised a whopping £5200, so thank you all soooo much for that. Our next auction will be at the beginning of July and will be for a charity that affects all of us – Help for Heroes. Keep an eye on the website and also the angling forums and publications for details of some of the great prizes we have to offer and let’s see if we can raise another whopping amount for our soldiers.
